The CW has released a description of “Sleeper,” the Thursday, April 24 episode of Smallville.

Here’s how the network describes the episode:

“Clark (Tom Welling) desperately searches for Kara (Laura Vandervoort) and Brainiac (guest star James Marsters, as Brainiac is the only one who can reverse Lana’s (Kristin Kreuk) condition. Clark asks Chloe (Allison Mack) to check any large power surges in the area, so she breaks into several government computers, setting off alarms.

“Jimmy (Aaron Ashmore) is caught between the Department of Security – who threatens him with jail time unless he helps them arrest Chloe – and Lex (Michael Rosenbaum), who offers to help clear Chloe if Jimmy agrees to be in his debt.”

The episode is written by Caroline Dries and directed by Whitney Ransick.

‘Smallville’ Guest Stars Cast in New Pilots April 1, 2008

Back in February, we announced that the CW had signed Smallville‘s Green Arrow, Justin Hartley, to a talent holding deal.  We had hoped this was a sign that the network was moving toward creating some sort of Green Arrow or Justice League spin-off, but that was just wishful thinking.  Instead of giving Oliver Queen his own action-adventure showcase, the CW has cast Hartley in a new pilot called Austin Golden Hour.  The real-time medical drama will find the actor donning blue scrubs instead of green leather.  Another recent Smallville veteran, Michael Cassidy, has also landed a new series on the network.  He was last seen playing Lex’s clone gone wrong, Grant Gabriel, earlier in season 7.

Austin Golden Hour sounds like a particularly weird move for the CW. The network is known for genre shows such as Supernatural or Reaper, as well as teen soaps like Gossip Girl. I’m baffled as to how they decided to produce a medical drama that takes place in real time, a la FOX’s 24. To make things even more bizarre, it’s being produced by Simon Fuller, who is the man behind shows like American Idol and The Next Great American Band. I have no idea how this series will turn out, but at least the CW is branching out and trying something new.

On the show, Hartley will be playing a member of a tight-knit group of emergency room surgeons and EMTs living in Texas. The series will focus on the medical issues, but also promises to have plenty of soapy personal drama as well. Lance Gentile, who is a former writer for ER, co-wrote the pilot episode.

As for Michael Cassidy, he’ll be starring in something that sounds right up the CW’s alley. The actor, who has formerly appeared on Hidden Palms and The O.C., will be starring in How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls. The series, which is based on a book by Zoey Dean, revolves around a young woman who’s fired from her job as the assistant at a glossy tabloid mag. She’s then hired to serve as a live-in tutor and life coach for the catty teen granddaughters of a cosmetics magnate. Cassidy will play the boyfriend of the main character. For his sake, I hope this job lasts longer than Hidden Palms.

Both shows sound like they have the potential to be interesting, but we’ll have to wait until the fall to find out if either of them succeed.

Keeping up with John Schneider March 12, 2008

John Schneider has been very busy since he died on Smallville check this interview ( CLICK HERE) with him from last fall where he talks about all of the projects he has been working on.

John’s Own Project- a family film for the Dukes’ fans!

Three more interviews from the last year with John- all talking about his movie Hot Pursuit which he produced and starred in himself.

I love him talking about his kids and the pride he has in their very un-Hollywood achievements. Nice to see a grounded family man who knows the value of education and hard work and is passing those values on.

John has completed two movies for the Sci-Fi channel in the past year. Lake Placid 2 has come to DVD recently and is available for sale on Amazon.
Lake Placid 2 (Unrated)

See the trailer here:

His latest endeavor has been the movie Ogre for the SciFI Channel. Check your local listings for showtimes. I enjoyed this flick- it is a cheap knock off in some ways of the M. Night Shamylan movie The Village. Same isolated village stuck in time, buried in the Pennsylvania woods with a deep dark secret. I actually enjoyed Ogre more than I did the much bigger budget Village. It doesn’t try to be anything other than fun entertainment. The Ogre is no kindly Shrek and the effects are not bad. There were plenty of familiar faces for those who watch Thursday nights on the CW. The main female Ogre hunting teen in the woods is the actress who was one of the special psychic kids from Supernatural- Ava. Also seen is the telekinetic killer Max from Supernatural season 1.

Not high drama but fun!
