Jeffrey Dean Morgan joins ‘All Good Things’ April 8, 2008

jeff20headshot.jpgJeffrey Dean Morgan has joined Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst in ’80s drama All Good Things.

The movie tells the story of a member of a New York real estate dynasty (Gosling) who becomes involved with a girl from the poor side of town (Dunst).

The former Supernatural star will play the downtrodden detective called to investigate when Dunst’s character goes missing. Frank Langella also stars.

The project is the feature film debut of documentary-maker Andrew Jarecki (Capturing The Friedmans), who will direct from a script he co-wrote.

Filming begins in Connecticut later this month.

Dean Morgan is currently shooting his role as The Comedian in Zack Snyder’s superhero comic adaptation Watchmen.

“Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles is in final negotiations to play a lead in Lionsgate’s My Bloody Valentine 3-D, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In director Patrick Lussier’s remake of the 1981 horror film, Ackles will play Tom, a handsome, principled man who returns to his home in Harmony, Mo., 10 years after 22 people were murdered on Valentine’s night. Back in Montana, Tom finds he still is smitten with his first love, Sarah (Jaime King), and is now a murder suspect.

Zane Smith wrote the screenplay.

Jack Murray, John Dunning and Andre Link will executive produce. Executive producers for Lionsgate are Mike Paseornek and John Sacchi.

Production begins May 12 for a release on January 23, 2009.

Jared Padalecki to Star in Friday the 13th Remake March 21, 2008

From BuddyTV today:

‘Supernatural’ Star Ready for ‘Friday the 13th’
Friday, March 21, 2008

Nobody was more excited than me when it was announced months ago that the madman from the Friday the 13th films, Jason Voorhees, would be facing the Winchester brothers on Supernatural. The hockey mask loving killer was supposed to show up in the recent episode “Dream a Little Dream of Me,” but due to some pesky rights issues it never happened. However, it looks like I’ll be getting the next best thing, because Supernatural star Jared Padalecki has just been cast as the lead in the new Friday the 13th remake. He’ll be playing a guy who investigates some grisly murders up at Crystal Lake, which is something Sam Winchester would surely be comfortable with.

The Friday the 13th remake is being produced by Platinum Dunes studios, which also brought us recent remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hitcher, and many others. Fans of the original Friday, or the original Scream, will surely remember that Jason’s mother was the killer in the first film. Jason didn’t show up until the sequel, and he didn’t obtain his hockey mask until the third. However, in this “remake” he’ll already have his mask and be busy offing teens, so it’s not exactly a copy of the source material.

The new Friday the 13th film is being directed by Marcus Nispel, who put together a lot of music videos before directing the Texas Chainsaw remake. If you liked the gritty, stylized look of that film, chances are you’ll enjoy this one as well.

I think the casting of Padalecki is an interesting move, and I’m certainly excited to see him on the big screen again. These slasher movies typically have a female heroine, so it’ll be a change of pace to see a male battling Jason. However, I’m sure at some point during the climax of the film I’m going to wonder why he doesn’t pull out the Colt and shoot Jason right in his hockey mask.

Because the studios love a little bit of marketing synergy, the Friday the 13th remake will be in theaters on Friday, February 13, 2009.

Supernatural – Season 3 Update March 14, 2008

Supernatural will be returning to the CW on Thursday night following Smallville on April 3, 2008. No word on whether this will be a new episode or a repeat. The total number of episodes for this season has not been set- we have heard between 3-5 episodes more to finish the season. The writers and producers are back at work though so expect tidbits to start rolling in!

We have the initial episode names  and some casting/ plotline spoilers for the next two episodes of SN that are going into production now.

The first one- Ghostfacers will be the annual joke episode featuring the guys in a “reality” show that has them on a paranormal investigation show. Very much like the great X-files episode X-Cops which had Mulder and Scully running all over Los Angeles with the Cops crew chronicling their search for the unknown.

Episode Title: #313 – GHOSTFACERS!
EXEC PROD, Eric Kripke, Mc G, Robert Singer, Kim Manners;
PROD, Peter Johnson, Cyrus Yavneh, Phil Sgriccia;
DIR, Phil Sgriccia;
WRTR, Ben Edlund.
Shoot Dates: March 13, 2008 (in Vancouver, Canada).

20’s, Korean-American , she is smart and funny female, in the would-be reality show “GHOSTFACERS!” Maggie is bravely game to hunt ghosts with the guys and earns the title “research team co-leader.” She occasionally carries a digital video camera to get footage. She’s having a relationship with her brother’s best friend, another member of the team, which puts all the more pressure on their ghost hunt. Guest Star;

30s, any ethnicity, 6’6″ tall. He’s a towering, “line-backer sized” cameraman for the would-be reality show “GHOSTFACERS!” Deadpan and extremely low-key, even when faced with ghosts and the unknown. When Spruce stands and reveals his enormous size, even the Winchester brothers have to admit he could take them in a fight. Guest Star.

 Episode 3.14 will be called “Long-Distance Caller” and will feature a character called Leila.

Untitled Finale

Kristin at EOnline has hinted that she has heard the season finale will have Dean going to hell! Not sure how much stock I put in this as she has been known to be wrong though.

Supernatural Goes Reality Show? March 7, 2008

Latest from Kristin

Annie in Chamberlain, South Dakota: Why am I hearing rumors about the CW turning Supernatural into a reality show?! What are its chances of coming back for another season (the way it is)?
I suspect the rumors you speak of have come about because of an upcoming storyline in episode 13, where the boys encounter a group of reality-show ghost hunters. But fear not, Jared and Jensen are not moving into a house to hot tub with other ridiculously smokin’ CW stars (though I’d watch that, too).Source: E!Online

This is the episode the producers have wanted to do for some time- the guys will be hooking up with the geek boys from season 1’s joke episode Hell House and doing a reality show episode much like the X-Files when they did the excellent episode X-Cops which is a perennial fan favorite!
